Default Canning help?

Getting time here to get serious and start buying supplies. First, I have never canned before. Not looking to do anything major, just salsa (lots) and maybe cucumbers(some). I have Romas and Beefsteak for tomato plants, jelepeno, cayenne and yellow banana for peppers. And white onions.
What are some basics and simple recipes? I bought the Ball canning book and need to get some supplies. Places run out around here last yr.

There are a few different methods to canning. I would say that book would be your best bet for techniques. The little old ladies at work seem to be great resources too.

How do you plan to do the sealing? We use a method using the oven rather than the typical boiling method because we have a glass top stove and it has a hard time keeping that big of a pot boiling. Another option, if you are in the same boat as we are is to go buy a turkey fryer. They hook up to propane and have NO PROBLEM boiling that big pot of water.

Keep in mind any hot peppers you add will intensify over time.

Did 6- 1/2 pints of sweet bananas and 8 pints of bread and butter. Only been a week but the pickles are awesome. Now, if the tomatos would ever ripen!
