You peeps coming into Id via US 20, I-84, I-15 be fawking carefull!!!!!!!!!! Detailed Forecast Be prepared for snow on the roads and breezy conditions for your morning commute. A strong winter storm is making its way into the region today and tomorrow. Winter storm warnings have been issued for the mountains and highlands, and a high wind watch has been issued for the Snake River Plain. Expect a chance of snow showers in the morning then a rain and snow mix for this afternoon. Breezy conditions will pick up this afternoon with gusts in the mountains and highlands between 20 to 25 mph. Gusts in the Snake Plain will be between 25 to 35mph. The showers will continue for the higher elevations through Thursday morning with a foot of new snow possible over the next few days. For today, 1 to 3 inches of new snow possible in the higher elevations. Winds will strengthen as we head into Wednesday afternoon. Gusts in the valley will range between 50 to 60 mph. At the ridge tops of the mountains, winds could gust up to 70 mph generating periods of blowing snow and reduced visibility. Backcountry enthusiasts may become disoriented because of the blustery conditions.

Winter storm warning remains in effect until 5 am mst thursday, Timing, moderate snowfall will continue through Thursday morning. Main impact, high winds reaching 40 to 50 mph Wednesday coupled with moderate snowfall will produce areas of blowing and drifting snow and near blizzard conditions at times over mountain passes and exposed mountain terrain. Storm total snow accumulation of 9 to 18 inches is expected above 6000 feet elevation by Thursday morning with considerable drifting. Other impacts, blowing and drifting snow may create an increased avalanche threat in remote areas near steep terrain. Precautionary/preparedness actions, A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow, blowing snow, and high winds are expected or occurring. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible at times.
