I've seen these things in action...pretty cool. http://www.waterskis.com/Grinch-Wake...oard_winch.htm

I started wakeboarding 4-5 years ago after skiing forEVER. Getting up will be a snap compared to a deep water ski start. I just can't get use to standing side ways. I do find the wrecks to be A LOT more painful. FACE PLANT!
That is my biggest question. the winch has tons of power no doubt and it pulls logs pretty damn fast, gonna have to get wet and find out if it will pull me on plane. Though I imagine it will, in looking online guys that build homemade winches are only using maybe a 10 horse motor.

I think the winch itself we have has 150-200' of cable, and well for 2-3 grand for a "wake" winch I can buy a hella lot of no stretch rope to clip onto the cable.
