Default Snowies with AWSC Miss Snowflake

2015(2016) marks the 3rd year Tyler's Backcountry Awareness has invited Wisconsin's Miss Snowflake and friends out west to ride in the mountains.
https://www.awsc.org/About-Us/Miss-Snowflake.aspx
Previous years we've done the ride in March, this year the schedule worked out that we'd ride earlier in the season. Interestingly, this was the same crew we invited out the first year.

Met up with the crew monday afternoon, rode tuesday/wednesday/friday.

January snow's a little different than they remembered the last time they were here in March of 2014.

Not that it's a bad thing.

Good first day. Get the sleds loaded up, head back to the cabin for dinner and sleep.

Tuesday was another long trail ride from Albany, north towards thre Greenrock side.

Recent slide activity... here's a good example of why you need to be aware of the avalanche danger when riding in the mountains.

Pushed onward. Snow's decent for new-years, still a fair amount of rocks to watch for.

On the trail back, the shock linkage bolt decided it didn't want to be part of my rear skid anymore. Used the L-key for the clutch and a spare 1/4-20 bolt for the deflection adjustment screw to keep the shock in place long enough to limp back to the truck.

These parts are important!! Thanks to Get Lucky for letting me borrow the parts/pieces I needed to get back on the snow...

Thursday, Albany Lodge needed a day to wrench on sleds... couple little problems here and there, and they didn't have enough machines to outfit our crew. A day for R&R was much appreciated by all, spent some time relaxing in the cabin and in the bowling alley in Laramie.
Friday we're back on the mountain and ready to ride.

Hey, some more decent snow.

Into some untracked snow for lessons on sidehilling/carving...

hey, who's that guy...

Sun's going down, head back to the truck at the end of the day.
That slide in the bowl (crown line visible in the sun) is fresh that day - wasn't there when we passed by in the morning.

Been a good week.

Nice. I read the article in the WI magazine. Sounds like a great bunch to ride with.
