At the moment I have the stock clutching on my 04 600 136 with stock belts. It would be nice to find out what will work for mine and other hawks so we can get our parts. Could I make the stock parts work ok, or do I need different clutching. I really don't have much money to spend. I haven't ever done any clutching work before. What tools will I need? My buddy will also be coming and has a 503 121. Completely stock clutching and belts. Thanks

Not much replies man, that's sad !
One main thing you'll have to do is lighten up the weights your primary as you're going higher. Your engine not having as much air as if it was at 1000' and won't produce as much horses, so it won't be able to pull as much weight in the primary. Look at page 8-3 of your manual, item 10 & 12, these are the weights you can remove. How much you need to remove, I couldn't say though. Tony or even Bud from Montana could tell you exactly how much to take off, he has done lots of clutch tuning with this primary. Let me know if you need their #. If you want to spend a bit more, you can get a Cat secondary all set up off of Bud. My personnal choice is a Team. Then, a better primary, TRA or P-85, would be the next upgrade. The other main problem you will encounter, bigger problem than clutching in my opinion, will be jetting. Just carry the 5 sizes below what you run now in the flatlands, make sure you know how to change jets because you won't be able to run that fat of a jet that high... and you might have to rejet once or twice the first day like most of us in Utah last year ! PS, you need a puller to take your primary off your PTO shaft and a spring compressor if you ever want to put a new spring in. They "kinda" tell you how to do it in manual page 8-6. Good luck ! |

whats the elevation range we will be riding at??
it may be early but what type of temperatures could we expect. How far on trail would we have to ride to play? would it be a good idea to put on a straight adapter? |

THE last question I just have to answer with...... get SummitHD films DVD 45 degrees N , it's last winters video. It's great and it will help you know what your going to, Don't go there blind. The elevation is 7000 to 11000 if I remember wright. It's smack dab in the middle of the mountains, you'll call it Heaven or maybe the other place

Steve, you will only get about a mile out of town on a highway that doesn't get plowed during the winter. Take a left and head up, still on a trail for another 1.5 mile's and it's play time,
Set up, I use the Attack compensator, no need for jetting but I will need to redo my mains, clutching I bought the set up from bud, Cat secondary, I do have the stock salad bowl, I just pulled out 5 or 8 grams can't remeber, good luck, Hope you don't mind I only got 1 bed for our room.

because I didn't get any with mine !!!
For 3 seasons she ran as if I was running the main jet I had in there, period. Couldn't get support neither from Holtzmann or ADB... And no one can tell me exactly how it actually works. I'm stopping the story there, it's too frustrating. Since the thing only compensates for 3000', it's not even enough to compensate for the difference of elevation I run around here which is 1800'-7500' . |
