How many guys running a 121 on their 800?
Think I may go that route for some spring riding, just wondering who else has done it. |

Pascal from "snowhawker.com" has one. He told me it was amazing in the powder because of the crazy track speed it was pulling. Is that true ??? I'm having a very hard time beleiving this, LOL ! I could see mine with a 121" on a 36" of fluffy powder day just trying to dig a trench to China and ski pointing to the sky within seconds...
If I had a 121 track and rail kit I'd do it as a spring mountain or eastern trail setup !!! Must be one hell of a fun Hawk to ride in the spring up top with a yellow fluorescent T-shirt and pink Sunglasses on ! Go ahead & do it then let us know how she really goes ! |

I just rode 2 days on my 600 121" in the 4-5 feet fresh powder in southwest VT and it was awesome. At HawkFest I rode both 121" and 136" 600's and the shorter track made the machine feel much lighter and more nimble.
Obviously you give up some capabilities, but I don't feel that doing so creates a ditch digging nightmare. I think you'll enjoy it. |

When my friend stab his track 3 weeks ago,we where thinking of installing the 121 track he had in stock.Finnaly he decided to go for the 136 .I went at factory and talked with Denis Boivin to talk about that and he show me a 800 121 and said it was acting like a blower.
The one that pascal had was having ALOT of ponny so you know the rest .... |

One interesting thing about the amount of track speed you're pulling is you're also powering the machine by generating "thrust" force behind you by throwing snow like a jet ski does with water.
In order to generate that force, the snow must have a certain amount of consistency. If it's very dry snow, something that looks like dust or flour when you're riding, you're "blowing air with a bit of snow" and I have to say it's probably not gonna work (I'm saying this because i've been riding in that type of snow for 2 years now). On the other side, if it's heavier snow like I had in Quebec / eastern Canada or like mountains along the coasts get, then it might work and might also be another variable in "the equation" and this might compensate for the short track. Here's an example of that at 1:50, that turn I make there shows that perfectly if you look closely : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6poYY1Q6hYY . That day was a very heavy snow day and I took off work for the afternoon to go ride it. The next day it was 1/2 that amount and hard as rock... That being said, I'm absolutely sure a 12-3/8" x 121" track under an 800 Snow-hawk in 36" of Revy pow would'nt go very far up becsause the dry snow doesn't offer a lot of traction as opposition to wet snow that's denser. I got an email from a guy from Calgary that rides an 800 136" in Sicamous (town west of Revy) said he ran out of track couple times in the day in a powder day there. |
